Zapier + Google Ads: no-code offline conversions and audience sync
Zapier is the no-code bridge for businesses without a developer, moving leads and conversion events between tools and Google Ads. It can upload offline conversions and update Customer Match audiences on triggers from your CRM or forms. It is genuinely useful for smaller setups, with real limits worth understanding. This guide covers the practical uses iClick recommends.
A 47-point written audit of your Google, Meta or Shopping account, back in five business days.

- Offline conversion uploads triggered by CRM or form events, without code
- Customer Match audience updates from new leads or customers
- Lead routing from ad forms into a CRM or spreadsheet
- A path to conversion feedback for teams without engineering
- Automation of repetitive data hand-offs around the ad account
Setup steps
- 1
Capture and store the GCLID
Even with Zapier, offline conversions need the GCLID. Ensure your lead forms capture it into a hidden field and that it flows into whatever system triggers the Zap, such as your CRM or form tool.
Without a stored GCLID, Zapier has nothing to match a conversion back to, so this step is non-negotiable.
- 2
Build the offline conversion Zap
Create a Zap that triggers when a lead reaches a qualifying stage, then uses the Google Ads action to upload an offline conversion with the GCLID, value, and timestamp.
Test with a known record end to end, and confirm the conversion appears in Google Ads with the correct value and attribution before relying on it.
- 3
Automate audience updates
Use a Zap to add new customers to a Customer Match audience, or to a suppression list, when they are created in your CRM or complete a purchase. This keeps audiences current without manual exports.
Respect consent, and only add contacts permitted for advertising use.
- 4
Know the limits
Zapier processes records as events, so it suits moderate volumes and simple logic. High-volume accounts, complex deduplication, or value adjustments for refunds are better served by a proper server-side pipeline. Use Zapier where it fits and graduate to engineered integrations when volume or complexity outgrows it.
Common issues
Fix. Almost always a missing or malformed GCLID, or a timestamp outside the conversion window. Confirm the GCLID is captured and passed cleanly, and that the upload timing is valid.
Fix. Zapier has task and rate limits. For high volumes, batch where possible or move the integration to a server-side pipeline built for scale.
Fix. Add a filter or deduplication step so the same record cannot trigger the conversion twice, and use the order or lead ID as a guard.
Fix. Add a filter that only passes contacts with the required consent, so non-consented records are never added to advertising audiences.
