Klaviyo + Meta integration: turn your email data into Facebook Ads audiences
The Klaviyo Meta integration passes your segment and purchase data to Facebook Ads, where it becomes custom audiences, suppression lists and value-based lookalike seeds. That seed quality is what Advantage+ expands from. Done well it sharpens targeting, stops you paying to re-acquire recent buyers, and lifts blended efficiency.
A 47-point written audit of your Google, Meta or Shopping account, back in five business days.

- Value-based lookalike seeds, built from your highest-lifetime-value customers
- Recent-buyer suppression, so prospecting budget is not spent re-acquiring them
- Lifecycle segment sync, Facebook retargeting tailored to where someone is in the journey
- Win-back and cross-sell audiences, built from real purchase behavior
- Facebook lead ads into Klaviyo flows: submissions land as profiles that trigger welcome and nurture
- Better Advantage+ performance from stronger first-party seeds
Setup steps
- 1
Connect Klaviyo to Meta and confirm consent
Use Klaviyo's native Meta integration to link the ad account. Before syncing anything, confirm you are only sharing data you have consent to use for advertising, because customer data flowing to an ad platform must respect the permissions under which it was collected.
With the connection live and consent confirmed, you can begin pushing segments as custom audiences that Meta keeps refreshed as the Klaviyo segment changes.
- 2
Build value-based segments in Klaviyo
The quality of a Meta audience is inherited from its seed, so build segments that reflect value, not just activity. Create a high-lifetime-value segment, your top customers by revenue, and a recent-purchaser segment for suppression.
Value-weighted seeds teach Meta to find profitable customers rather than merely frequent ones, which is why a lookalike built from your top customers consistently outperforms one built from all buyers. Define these segments deliberately before syncing.
- 3
Sync segments as custom audiences and lookalike seeds
Push the high-value segment to Meta as a custom audience, then build a lookalike from it. Start tighter for precision and widen for reach as needed. In an automated world, Meta increasingly treats the seed as a strong signal it expands from, so seed quality still shapes where the model looks.
Sync the recent-purchaser segment too, which you will use for suppression in the next step rather than for targeting.
- 4
Suppress existing customers from prospecting
Add the recent-purchaser segment as an exclusion on prospecting campaigns so you stop paying to acquire people who just bought. This is a quiet but real saving: without suppression, broad automated campaigns happily re-serve recent customers and count the resulting sales as new acquisition.
Keep customers eligible for the retargeting and cross-sell campaigns where re-engaging them is the point, but fence them out of top-of-funnel prospecting.
- 5
Keep seeds fresh and measure incrementally
Klaviyo segments update automatically, so your Meta audiences stay current as long as the sync is healthy, refresh and verify it periodically. Rebuild value-based seeds as your customer base evolves so the lookalike does not drift from who your best customers are today.
Judge the impact on incremental results, not just platform ROAS, because better seeds and suppression should lift blended efficiency, which is the number that reconciles with the business.
- 6
Sync Facebook lead ads into Klaviyo flows
Everything above pushes data from Klaviyo out to Meta. Facebook lead ads run the other direction: a form submission lands in Klaviyo as a profile, which can trigger a welcome or nurture flow immediately rather than waiting for a manual export.
That speed is the point. A lead that gets a relevant first email within minutes of submitting is worth considerably more than the same lead contacted days later, and it keeps the ad spend and the follow-up on the same clock.
Common issues
Fix. Meta requires a minimum audience size to activate. Broaden the Klaviyo segment or combine segments until it clears the threshold, or use it as a lookalike seed rather than direct targeting.
Fix. Check the integration connection and that the segment is set to sync. A broken or paused sync leaves a stale audience in Meta that drifts from the live segment over time.
Fix. The recent-purchaser segment is not applied as an exclusion on prospecting. Add it as an exclusion, and confirm the segment window matches how long you want to suppress buyers.
Fix. Re-authorising the ad account can leave previously synced segments detached. Confirm each segment is still set to sync after reconnecting, rather than assuming the connection alone restored them.
Fix. The lead form has to be mapped to a Klaviyo list, and the field mapping must include email. A form collecting only phone or name creates nothing on the Klaviyo side.
Fix. Usually a weak seed. Rebuild it from value-weighted top customers rather than all buyers, and refresh it as your customer base changes. A value-based seed consistently beats an all-buyers one.
