Drop Launch Traffic Estimator.
A tour announcement or limited drop doesn't send steady traffic, it sends a spike in a narrow window. Estimate how big that spike actually is before it hits your store.
Instagram + TikTok + X, summed across the artist's active accounts.
Share of followers who see and react within the first hour. 1-2% is typical, 3-5%+ for a major tour or album announcement.
Of those who engage, the share who click through to the site.
How many hours the surge concentrates into. Shorter window, higher peak, same total audience.
Within range of typical peak traffic for most stores. Still worth a quick pre-flight check on inventory sync and payment gateway limits.
How to read your number
Peak hourly visitors = combined social following × announcement engagement rate × click-through rate ÷ spike window in hours. The same total audience produces a much higher peak the shorter that window is, a drop teased for days spreads its traffic out; a surprise drop concentrates it into the first 30-60 minutes.
Total reach matters less than peak load. A million followers spread evenly across a day is manageable for almost any Shopify plan. A tenth of that audience hitting the store in the same 20 minutes can take checkout down if nothing was pre-warmed.
Conversion rate almost always compresses under this kind of load, checkout queues, app slowdowns, and payment gateway rate limits all bite at the exact moment volume peaks. Plan for a meaningfully lower conversion rate in the spike window than your normal baseline, and treat anything better as upside.
